The new Control4 EA3 process is the mid range model in the current line of processors.

Powered by a next-generation multi-core processor, the EA-3 delivers a new level of speed and performance for instantaneous, interactive on-screen access to all the systems in the home. A built-in music server with three audio outputs delivers high-resolution audio throughout the home from your local music library, popular streaming music services, and AirPlay-enabled devices using native Control4 ShairBridge technology.

Our choice of which model to use in your home would depend on the number of devices we are needing to control and the EA3 would typically be specified to suit smaller home projects. 

The EA-3 has more ports than it's smaller brother, allowing it to connect to and control devices using infrared(IR), Serial (RS-232) and IP control for devices like Apple TV, Amazon Fire, smart televisions, AV receivers and other network connected devices. It also has built-in a secure wireless ZigBee control for lights, thermostats, smart locks, and more.
